This pack contains 100 sheets of 8" x 11" wafer paper. Wafer paper (wafer sheets) is similar to Rice Paper. Wafer paper is edible white paper to use on cakes, candy or cookies. It can be printed to with edible ink, and can also be drawn to using edible ink markers. This item is Kosher, and made with potato starch, water and vegetable oil. The history of wafer paper is very interesting and can is many centuries old. During the Renaissance, wafer paper was served as a dessert. It was a luxury foodstuff that only the aristocracy and upper middle classes could afford. Later, wafer paper became associated with religious significance, symbolizing the celebration of the Eucharist. What are the differences among the different types of wafer papers on the market? If you look at wafers used in communion, they are made with wheat flour. Wafer papers made in Asia are usually made with rice flour. Our wafer paper is made in the European Union, and is made from potato starch, which is the perfect wafer paper for edible cake images, bread decoration, pastry decoration and other confectionery uses. Some customers use wafer paper for making edible labels in the confectionary business, and we've even seen it used to make creative printed foodstuffs such as edible bank notes. The possibilities are endless as this is a very verstatile type of edible paper, and can either be designed by edible marker (such as YummyArt edible markers), or printed to with edible ink (Inkedibles edible ink printing supplies). It can also be cut into various shapes and designs by hand or using an electronic cutter.
