Edible Ink

Edible ink is also referred to as cake ink or food ink. Edible ink is a specially formulated food-grade, inkjet-able food coloring mix that is made to flow through specific inkjet printers and be printed onto edible paper, producing custom digital prints that are edible and result in beautiful custom cakes or photo cakes. The art of edible printing requires 4 components: edible inks, edible cartridges, a dedicated printer, and frosting sheets (edible paper). We highly recommend the purchase of our Keep It Cool Thermal Packaging with all orders of Edible Ink during seasons of extreme heat when shipping to areas with temperatures reaching 90?F or higher. Extreme heat can cause edible ink to expand during shipping which can cause leaking and damage the integrity of the cartridge. All items are carefully inspected before shipping so that every package leaves us to ship to you in pristine condition. If the option of including the Keep It Cool was not used, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage or leaking that occurs during shipping. Defective products will only be accepted for return/refund within 10 business days of shipping date. Please inspect all items on arrival and then properly seal and store all items if not intended for immediate use. Before a product is determined to be defective please refer to our Support Center or contact our customer service for trouble shooting advice. Chocolate Transfer sheets and Frosting sheets are delicate items and must be handled with care. Please learn the sensitivities of the product you are using to understand the proper handling, storage and care. In this category you will find products designed to get photos on cakes, also known as edible cake pictures or images. Cake photo images are made using edible ink printing, which makes use of a dedicated edible ink printer and edible ink cartridges, printing to edible paper. Utilization of edible ink printing is used by bakeries to make cakes with pictures, cupcakes with logos, and many other types of creative and unique digitally enhanced cakes.

Edible inks are water-based, and the paper used for printing is highly hygroscopic in nature, meaning it absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment .

If the relative humidity (RH) is too low, the ink can dry out quickly, leading to clogging of the print head and poor print quality. On the… See full answer »
