Edible images make custom-decorating cakes, cookies and desserts easy and convenient. Edible pictures and company logos are printed with edible inks onto thin sheets called frosting or icing sheets or edible paper. These sheets are made of sugar and corn starch to enable printing of edible images for cakes and other items. Edible images can be purchased from local or online stores supplying cake decorating service or can be made at home using your own inkjet printer. So, get your own edible supplies and start adding personal touch to your sweet treats with carefully implemented edible designs, images or photographs.
So, before you begin with edible printing at home you must know that edible inks are not like ordinary ink and you cannot just use it with your printer. A special care must go into the edible ink usage for cake decorating. If you purchase edible inks in bulk, make sure to store them at room temperature.
Edible ink cartridges must be installed in your edible inkjet printer with utmost care. Make sure you don’t get your ink mixed up! After printing on edible paper, keep the frosting sheet to dry for 10 minutes at room temperature before handling it. When the ink had set in, you can peel the sheet gently pat it down at this point. This way it will absorb into the frosting, leaving the impressive design or image intact.
